I am not usually an all-inclusive resort type of person. But culture! But the food! But how is it “travel” if you never leave the building.. but, but but..
Well.
We came across some cheap flights (booking Delta with Virgin Atlantic miles, from a credit card points transfer with a bonus), and an award stay redemption opportunity at the Hilton Tulum resort. Why not? We’ll give this a go.. worst case, we’ll go back to “traveling for real”.

You know what?
This was actually very enjoyable. I had been wrong about all inclusive resorts this whole time.
The kids had a blast. We had a relaxing time – food available whenever, a change of clothes also available whenever. Removing transportation and snacks as variables, we got to just enjoy time with each other.

the spa, shared with conrad, was incredible service + spacious and relaxing
While I still count this separately from “travel”, I think this was a great way to spend a few days to escape the Minnesotan winter with minimal hassle. The bonus was that this was actually quite budget friendly: $1100 all in for 5 people (with help of points).
